My idea is to create a book that gives an overview of the Fermi Paradox. In a nutshell, the Fermi Paradox is as follows:
The apparent size and age of the universe suggest that many technologically advanced extraterrestrial civilizations ought to exist. However, this hypothesis seems inconsistent with the lack of observational evidence to support it.
This concept was aptly summarized by physicist Enrico Fermi in 1950, who asked “Where is everybody?” Thus, that question will be the theme of the book that guides design choices. The question implies emotions such as emptiness, isolation, space, wonder, and mystery. I will attempt to adhere to these emotions during my design process.
The subject of the Fermi Paradox is at the intersection of several disciplines of the sciences including, but not limited to, physics, astronomy, chemistry, evolutionary biology, psychology, and statistics. I will use a few academic and popular sources for the content of my book.

An important aspect of this project is to present the content using visuals and type to enhance the material. As the Fermi Paradox deals with a variety of scientific and theoretical topics, it is extremely important to present the material in a way that makes sense to the target audience—people who don’t have extensive experience in these fields of study. The following are a few pages from Altay Dagistan’s booklet, The Quantum Theory. It’s purpose was to give entry level scientific information that summarizes the booklet’s corresponding technical papers.
An estimate for the number of pages of my book will be about 16. Depending on how much theoretical content I decide to include, there may more or less pages. For sections that deal with data and statistics, I plan on creating illustrations that display the data visually. For sections that deal with theory, the illustrations will be diagrams and pictures that explain the concepts visually. A brief sketch of few pages is below.
